Hey y’all! Did this weekend fly by for anyone else like it did for me?! Sorry I was a little MIA this last week. With our friends leaving on Monday then Cody’s parents coming to visit on Thursday, I only had 2 days to really get all my school stuff (mostly) done and get ready for their arrival. But the stress was worth it because we had fun this weekend!
They arrived midday on Thursday, so after I got done at work we headed out to Mellow Mushroom for supper. If you haven’t checked them out, you should! Their pizza is delicious!! Jenny and I shared a BBQ chicken pizza on gluten free crust and the boys shared a mighty meaty. We came back to the apartment to watch the Patriots game (GO PATS!).
On Friday, Cody took a half day and went with his parents to lunch and out to Shem Creek to check it out. After work we all went to James Island to eat at this BBQ joint, Smoky Oak, that was recommended by Cody’s boss. It was a lot of great food and it came out SUPER fast (like 10 minutes fast I swear!)
We then headed downtown towards East Bay Street to show them the Pineapple fountain, Rainbow Row, and the City Market. We stopped at Wet Willie’s for daquiris before going to Red’s on Shem Creek. With the massive humidity wave and my long day, we definitely did not stay long.
Saturday was going to be a beach day, but the rain decided otherwise 😦 So the day became kind of a relaxing impromptu day. We started with a large, yummy breakfast at Cracker Barrel. And we were definitely surprised by the amount of food that arrived!
After breakfast we drove up to North Charleston to show Jenny and Steve my school, check out the Field and Stream store (I got some awesome cabin socks for when boot season begins!), and look at a potential engagement photo location.
We spent the afternoon watching college football and me working on school stuff (Thanks to them for letting me take care of that stuff!).
In the midst of the afternoon, we took a break from football and went to check out the new Nordstrom Rack store that opened before Labor Day. I’m not sure what I think about it yet.
Since we had been eating such big meals and knew we wanted to go for ice cream Saturday night, we decided to just go to Qdoba for supper.
Speaking of ice cream, we went to our usual Ye Ole Fashioned Ice Cream Shoppe! This time I got something new – Strawberry Cheesecake! And let’s just say we’re lucky I snapped a photo with how fast it was gone 😉 It might be my new favorite there!
Today we started our morning with a Charleston Harbor tour, which was really fun!
After the tour we went back to the apartment to eat a light lunch and change before heading to Sullivan’s Island! We really do love this beach! Today we went a little late and it was WAY low tide and almost no wave activity. But we still had fun 🙂
I do love this man! 🙂
We decided to hit up the pool after the beach since we didn’t get much water time. Then we grilled out for our last meal with Jenny and Steve. The boys grilled a variety of meats and I cut up some GIANT apples to have with some caramel while we were down there. It was a really good meal 🙂
Let’s just say the sun and food has warn him out 😉
We had a great weekend and I’m glad they were able to come out and visit!! Now it’s back to a regular routine!
