Hey everyone! Hope you had a great weekend!
Friday was really low key. Cody wanted to play Halo with his friend Wade, so I watched Netflix and caught up on reading some blogs. But before that I made some delicious creamy garlic pasta and threw in some rotisserie chicken.
Saturday started off with some waffles for breakfast and a slow start to the day. A little before lunch I started working on school work. I had some tests to finish grading and a unit work sample to put together for Monday as part of my induction process. Afternoon rolled around and Cody advised me to stop working for the day, so we could leave the apartment for a while.
We ended up heading to the Citadel mall to check out some stores for fancy clothes. His company Christmas party is in a few weeks and it is cocktail attire. Cody’s current suit is too big on him, so we stopped in Express to see what size he would need and styles he liked. Unfortunately, I didn’t have as much luck there finding a cocktail dress. I was disappointed in their lack of options in that area. So, we headed over to Dillards as they have always had good choices. I tried on 5 dresses and narrowed it down to 2 that I liked, which are very different.
What do you think? I also have a bridesmaid dress in a deep purple that is cocktail in style, but I’m not sure if it’s appropriate for this type of outing. Thoughts?
We stopped at Target to pick up a few groceries before heading back home for supper. Cody chose spaghetti with turkey and breadsticks as his pre-race supper. As always, so good! And I made A LOT, so major leftovers for this coming week 🙂
Our night ended with watching the movie Unfinished Business with Vince Vaughn and Dave Franco. Very interesting story line but it had its humor. I’m glad we didn’t pay to see it in theatres though.
We headed to bed early as we had to be up by 5 AM this morning. Yuck for a Sunday but we had to leave by 6 for Cody’s race. Cody signed up to participate in a Spartan race; it was 4.6 miles long with 25 obstacles and if he failed any of the obstacles he had to do 30 burpees per obstacle! It was a 2 hour drive to the race location and he needed to be there at least an hour and a half before race time. When we arrived, we got him signed in and walked around, checking out some of the obstacles that spectators can see and other areas there. It was a really cool set up with a DJ playing music, “food court”, and a training rig.
Cody before his race…
As I was waiting for Cody to arrive at the first obstacle, it was amazing to see racers helping each other through the obstacles, even if they didn’t know each other. And there was a man who was running the race while carrying a man with cerebral palsy on his back. Incredible!
When Cody got to these obstacles, I zoomed right through them!
I then moved to the other location where we can see obstacles, including a spear throw! Sadly, Cody’s spear went about 6 inches to the right of the hay bale target, so he had to do some burpees 😦
Heading to the last 2 obstacles! Finishing strong!
Cody after he finished in under an hour and a half. So proud of him and the hard work and endurance he put in today!
After the drive home, the rest of the day consisted of school work, homemade pizza, video chat with his parents to talk about the race, and chatting it up with y’all!
Let me just tell you how excited I am that we only have 5 more days before our Thanksgiving break! I know all of us teachers are ready for some R&R. PLUS, my wonderful mama is coming to town on Friday and I can’t wait for her to get here! I haven’t seen her since August and she’ll be here until the following Tuesday!
