Sorry I’ve been MIA. Cody’s mom and her friend visited last weekend until Wednesday. It was great to see her and it made this month even better after we had the surprise visit from my parents the weekend before.
They flew in on that Friday and we went to Sol for some delicious Mexican. They have THE best queso! And their margaritas are all made fresh.
Saturday we woke up and were ready for some Charleston Donuts. Y’all… if you live in Charleston and haven’t been here, you need to go! They are made-to-order, kind of like Subway for donuts. And let’s just say, you can’t have just one. I had a Snickers and vanilla M&M.
After breakfast we headed out to the beach for some sun. Cody and I put our toes in the water and I can’t believe there were people all the way out there, it was ice cold!
We soaked up the sun for a couple of hours before heading back to the apartment to get cleaned up and get some lunch. We went to Atlanta Bread then drove around to did some sightseeing from the car since his mom had a broken foot.
For supper that night we went to Mellow Mushroom and got their yummy BBQ chicken pizza. We also got some garlic bread while we waited.
Because we had been up and about all day, we decided to take in a movie. We headed over to Cinebarre and saw 10 Cloverfield Lane. Very interesting but good if you like SciFi movies.
We knew while they were here we needed to hit up Ye Olde Fashioned for some ice cream and I got their strawberry cheesecake, a favorite of mine! Then headed home for some down time before bed.
Sunday we got up early and went to the early service at church. I’ve been loving their Daniel Series and I encourage you to check it out!
For brunch we checked out a new place, Page’s Okra Grill, and they did not disappoint! The portions were huge but oh so good. We started with some strawberry hushpuppies with a caramel sauce then I ordered their french toast breakfast.
We spent a little time in the afternoon by the pool before we headed towards downtown.
We had a carriage ride planned for that evening so we left a little early to drive around and ended up stopping at Kickin Chicken for some appetizers to tie us over since we had a big brunch. Their bobby fries are so good!
The carriage ride was wonderful! It was a great evening for it and our driver had great knowledge to share.
One of the best things I learned was that there are some old buildings that you can’t change the exterior but you can modernize the inside. This one building doesn’t look like it from the outside but they built a glass law firm on the inside of the building. So cool!
Monday night after work we grilled for the first time since the fall and then went for frozen yogurt.
The rest of their visit was pretty low key, hanging out after work and enjoying the time we had left before they left Wednesday.
The rest of the week we really didn’t cook as we hadn’t grocery shopped in almost 3 weeks. Thankfully, Wednesday night our apartment complex provided pizza and green beer in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day.
The remainder of the week was pretty chill, playing a little catch up with work on my end.
Now fast forwarding to this weekend, we had fun and didn’t really have much planned, which was nice. Friday we ended up going over to a friend’s house for food and drinks and to watch the UNI basketball game… boy what an ending!!
Saturday we went for a run (our 5K is in less than a week.. AHH!) then made some lunch before heading out to run some errands.
I was in search of a white dress for all my upcoming wedding events. I plan to do a separate post on that search process but I ended up finding two dresses for what I would’ve paid for one! Cody was a trooper while I was trying on so many things. (Sorry for not-so-enthused face lol)
We also decided that our fridge and cabinets were looking bit bare and needed to be replenished. We are doing a much more whole food/healthy focus this week since our race is Saturday. I’m excited to share our meal plan next Sunday.
Since we didn’t have anything planned for supper Saturday, we went out one last time. We headed to The Shelter for some Lowcountry boil!
Love going out with my handsome fiance!
We stayed in the rest of the night and watched some House of Cards (season finale left!)
Today was spent with church, getting some meat from Sam’s Club, working on school stuff, and now watching the UNI game (Go Panthers!). We also FINALLY chose our first dance song!!
For supper, we tried Courtney’s Easy Cheesy Chicken & Rice Casserole and it was delicious! I’m so glad there are leftovers.
This is my last week before our spring break, so I’m looking forward to a quick week.
Hope y’all had a great weekend!
